Bowing Scores 3/25/08

188, 187, 221   596 Series
We lost the first game by 15 pins
We Won the second game by 5 pins
We lost the third game by 1 pin
Talk about a close night and me not being able to come through in the clutch and strike except for game 2.  We only took 2 of 7 points this week losing total pins by 11.
Still though all of this is just for wins and doesn’t really mean anything until playoffs.
Average still sits at 185.

Shutter

Shutter another Japanese remake yee haw!
So basically Pacey from Dawson’s Creek (that’s what we’ll call him) and Roy from the Office are buddies over in Tokyo.  Pacey just got married but then there’s a terrible accident as his wife hits this girl in the road and their car swerves off the road and they crash into a tree.  They both survive as this movie really drags along at a jobberish pace.
Pacey is a photographer and has a bunch of photoshoots but they are ruined by some weird developments as there’s smudges in many of the photos.  The girl that they hit end up haunting them both...through the pictures.  Is she out for revenge from being hit by a car or is there something larger at work here?  The last 1/4th of the movie moved it from being total garbage to just below average.  A few twists towards the end made it not a total waste of time but for the runtime on this movie being in the 85 minute range it’s really not worth your cash.  I mean damn this was shorter than Horton Hears a Who.  So go ahead and pass on this one unless you really are desperate to watch a mild horror flick.  Personally I’d rather suggest that you hold out for Prom Night which is going to be terribly terrible or terribly awesome. Or The Ruins that looks to me like The Descent meets Slither.  Anyways next week it’s a step away from the horror and a step into the Casino.

Bowing Scores 3/18/08

178, 175, 193  546 Series
Nothing special this week to tell aside from the fact that my teammates managed to carry us to winning 2 of 3 games and total pins putting us at 5-2 on the night.  I couldn’t find the pocket all night as most of the season has gone.  I think one of the games was an all mark game with a ridiculous number of spares but I could be mistaken.  We still hold 1 spot for the third third of the season at 40-16 and Second in overall wins at 121-75.

Horton Hears a Who?

Randy Horton Legend Killer...
Horton Hears A Who?
Ok so rockin the Dr. Seuss from hell of days ago, actually they should do a movie for green eggs and ham now that would be a bust.
So this elephant voiced over by Jim Carrey lives in the jungle and finds a speck of dust that has a bunch of people on it in an town called whoville.  The Mayor of Whoville voiced over by Steve Carrell ends up communicating with the elephant and they have to find a safe place for the speck of dust to be.  Unfortunately for Whoville the rest of the jungle doesn’t believe the elephant and they are trying to destroy the speck of dust to prove that the elephant is crazy.  The head of the jungle happens to me a mean old kangaroo that puts everyone in their place and has a pretty sweet posse of Purple Gorillaz to back her up.  There’s also this "special" friend of the elephant that I found to be hillarious as well.  Not that I’m making fun of special people, it’s just the way it was animated.  Heh.
Overall though I think I enjoyed Bee Movie and Cars more than this one.  While the story in this one is just as farfetched as the one in Bee movie (bees taking humans to court for stealing their honey).  If you have children from the ages of 5-12 then I think this is definitely something they will enjoy and remains the way it was rated "G".

Bowling Scores 3/11/08

181, 194, 157  532 Series

We took 5 of 7 points this week which will probably keep us in first place for the third third of the season.  We are currently in second place for total wins on the year and every win equals more money in the end.  My average still sits at 186 where it will probably stay, Hopefully I can break out some 200+ during the rolloff at the end of the year.

The Bank Job

This movie stars Jason Statham and at the moment is a bit hard to explain other than it is about a Bank Heist so I'll let IMDB take this one:
Based on the true story of the 1971 Baker Street bank robbery which was prevented from being told for over thirty years because of a Government gagging order. The real story of how one of the biggest robberies in British history took place with no arrests ever made nor money ever recovered.
In September 1971, thieves tunneled into the vault of a bank in London's Baker Street and looted safe deposit boxes of cash and jewelry worth over three million pounds. None of it was recovered. Nobody was ever arrested. The robbery made headlines for a few days and then disappeared - the result of a 'D' Notice, gagging the press. This film reveals what was hidden for the first time. The story involves murder, corruption and a sex scandal with links to the Royal Family - a story in which the thieves were the most innocent people involved.
This movie kept my attention the entire 2+ hours and I'd have to rank it right up near the top in best movies I have screened this year.  Awesome stuff, Definitely Recommended.

Bowling Scores 3/4/08

Week 25- (185) (185) (185)  Absent
Week 26- 212, 177, 202  591 Series
We Took 5 of 7 points in week 25 and went 7-0 this week.  We currently sit atop everyone in 1st place for this third at 29-12 and 111-71 overall for the league.  We already won the second third so winning this one doesn't really mean anything, however you still get cash for every win and you know it's all about the money.....
